Material Handling equipments are all facilities that are helpful in the storage, control and movement of goods throughout the manufacturing process and the time of disposal. These mechanical equipments are involved during the complete system. Material handling equipments can be categorized into four parts: Industrial Trucks, Engineered Systems, Storage and Handling Equipment and Bulk Material Handling. Industrial trucks are motorized vehicles that are run by an operator. The most commonly used industrial trucks are forklift trucks.
Engineered systems comprise of conveyors, robots and other automated handling systems. Products such as shelving, carts and pallet rack fall under the category of storage and handling. Bulk material handling equipments are those used for transportation and storage of loose materials such as liquids and cereals .The material to be transported is in large quantity; therefore this engineering field is more often termed as bulk material handling. Also there are several software packages available in the market that is capable of managing the handling of materials.
Bulk handling materials can be judged on the basis of their uptime and the ease of maintenance. These two criteria have a major impact on the overall productivity of the product. The maintenance cost should be kept into consideration while buying a material handling equipment. Another thing that is important to consider is the warranty coverage of the equipment.
